Moe Bachouti is a USA Judo-certified coach and black belt. He was raised in a martial arts household, where he trained in and was awarded a black belt in Judo by his Sensei and father, Hisham Bachouti. Hisham, a 5th dan (Godan), is a Judo pioneer who trained and coached since 1962, receiving his own Judo education from Michel Nakhle through Kawaishi Mikinosuke, who himself was a student and emissary of Jigoro Kano, the founder of judo. As an educator, Professor Jigoro Kano saw Judo as a holistic approach for the betterment of his community. This has greatly influenced Moe’s outlook on martial arts as a vehicle for educational development, character building, and mental fortitude in addition to the evident benefits of physical strength and conditioning. Moe has continued his martial arts journey at a US Olympian-producing Judo center, where he engages in Judo as a sport and a philosophy.
Outside of Judo, Moe has a master's in liberal arts from Harvard and a Ph.D. in Sociology from Barcelona’s UPF. He works in high-tech consultancy and academia, which requires a lot of sitting, and is consistently reminded that martial arts is “a journey, not a destination.” Moe enjoys traveling and experiencing other cultures with his wife and daughter, and is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, and Arabic.
